When students embrace yoga as a way of life, they become more and more inspired by the wisdom teachings, which in turn leads them to becoming more conscientious, mindful, and disciplined individuals. Yoga awakens us to our power & our purpose, and makes us mindful of our impact on the world. As old habits slip away and new healthy habits take root instilling positive change. Eating mindfully and conscientiously can heal our body and in turn, heal the world!
But while, in theory, most agree a plant based diet is the karmic, practical and healthy choice, many people don't know where to start or what to cook that will truly satisfy. As a community of mindful eaters, Heartwood has collected recipes shared from students, the vegan chefs catering our meals, great cookbooks, and from our own fun experimentation. We offer these plant based, favored recipes to support students on their journey to wellness.
Remember, change is most likely to take root when implemented gradually so you don't have to change your eating patterns in one dramatic resolution (which you are unlikely to sustain the first time you meet friends for dinner out). Try replacing a few meals with plant based choices and experiment with a few of the recipes below until eating a plant based diet feels natural and you learn to love both the taste and how you look and feel.
Plant based eating doesn't have to be all or nothing. Small steps count. Step into the practice gradually and just as one's yoga deepens over time, so will your comfort and commitment to a plant-based diet.
