A step beyond - Specialty Ayurveda massage services
In addition to traditional bodywork therapies, our specialized Ayurveda therapies come from thousands of years of Ayurvedic medicine, where practitioners asses the energetic, elemental energies of the individual and prescribe specific treatments that promote balance and well-being. Your therapist will asses your Dosha type in an intake interview and make recommendations for regimens that can help support your better health. These sessions are often recommended to be repeated 3-5 times for best results. You may also decide to try each treatment if you are curious! Oils are chosen according to the constitution of the individual and then a rhythmic massage is performed to deeply relax and calm the nervous system, stimulate the circulatory and lymphatic systems and bring energetic balance to the individual. Marma points (Marmani) are vital energy points on the body that are important junctures to the energy pathways for healing. Similar to acupuncture or shiatsu, the system and knowledge of Marma Chikitsa has been used as an assessment tool, as well as a therapeutic modality for healing body, mind and consciousness for thousands of years. Marmani are classified according to their location on the body, the tissue of which they are composed, and the effects felt if injured. Ayurvedic massage therapy is based upon the knowledge of these sensitive, vital anatomical points, where structures pulsate and pain can exist. They are reflex anatomical sites, where flesh, veins, arteries, tendons, bones and joints meet and connect by subtle channels similar to meridians that carry energy and impulses that vitalize us.
